For this step you need , your J hook ( or hook you prefer) and 1 ball of red 4 play yarn, and 1 ball of White 4 ply yarn
You will need to make
9 Red 4 round double crochet solid granny squares
6 White 4 round double crochet solid granny squares
If you know how to make them, go ahead and check post 2 on 6-12

Basic 4 round granny
make a magic circle or chain 4 and join
Round 1 - ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3dc, ch2 ,3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2 join sl to next corner.
Round 2 -4 ch 3, dc, ch2,2dc, dc in each of the next stitches, *dc2 ( in ch2spot) ch2,dc2, dc in each of the next stitches* repeat 2 more time for a total of 4 sides for every round.
every time you chain 2 that is the corner. where you dc in each stitch that is a side
