Hi, I'm Mallory from Griffin Handspun . Mary invited me to write about how to make felt balls. I'm sure some of you are wondering what they are and why you'd want to make (or buy ) them. Felt balls can be made in many sizes depending on what you want to use them for; I use large one as dryer balls as well as kids' toys and small ones as beads. We try to avoid dryer sheets because of the chemicals they're made with so we made the switch dryer balls which soften clothes and reduce the drying time by about 25% (we've definitely noticed a drop in our electric bill). All you'll need is: A bowl of water Dish soap - I prefer Dawn 100% wool yarn - this can NOT be superwash yarn because it needs to be able to felt A towel - this is only used for catching any drips Start out by pouring a squirt of soap in the bowl of water. I used the longer tool with one 191 gram ball of boucle yarn, For an adult length scarf I recommend using at least this size if not 300 or more! Loopy Scarf While walking through Joann's I got all excited when I found this cute tool! I didn't care for the instructions however so I improvised and pulled on my hairpin lace knowledge  This of this like and awesome jumbo hairpin lace scarf here is a photo of the smaller of the two tools. I am using 4ply red heart with love yarn and a P hook.. the hook size doesn't matter too much I also used a j on a scarf and it came out about the same. Hello all I was at a craft store and saw some cell phone "bling" and though hmmmm what would happen if I added that to the end of my hook? All you need are the sticky sheets of bling meant for cell phones of the self adhisive ones for crafting. I like the cell phone nes beacuse they are in strips and you can cute what you need and be done in a few minutes. This is what I came up with!! Trick Make sure you don't put the bling too low... Let your hook sit for a few hours so it sets and no fibers stick to the end!

Today I thought I would show you how to felt your projects without having to use a Washing Machine You don't need to use the same pattern as me in fact you can felt anything that is made of wool. However if it's only 20 wool it won't work very much. Check your label and make sure your yarn is manly wool. I used my latest  flower pattern  I also have  Chiq Simple Flower ,  Loopy /Chain flower  or use your favorite one!!! Hello Everyone! For mother's day this year I made my grandma floppy hat that wasn't made from cotton but from soft yarn.
