Hi, I’m Sharona Wilson. My daughter Pam and I make loom knitted dolls for charity. We recently sent off two dozen to an orphanage in Haiti, followed by a batch to a local Alzheimers center, and a batch to our local sheriff’s station for their children in crisis program. Hi, I'm Mallory from Griffin Handspun . Mary invited me to write about how to make felt balls. I'm sure some of you are wondering what they are and why you'd want to make (or buy ) them. Felt balls can be made in many sizes depending on what you want to use them for; I use large one as dryer balls as well as kids' toys and small ones as beads. We try to avoid dryer sheets because of the chemicals they're made with so we made the switch dryer balls which soften clothes and reduce the drying time by about 25% (we've definitely noticed a drop in our electric bill). All you'll need is: A bowl of water Dish soap - I prefer Dawn 100% wool yarn - this can NOT be superwash yarn because it needs to be able to felt A towel - this is only used for catching any drips Start out by pouring a squirt of soap in the bowl of water. I haven't written the pattern for the bunny and her carrot yet.  Why use plastic ones? Go green and make you own reusable ones!!!  Not to mention these are completely adorable!! Mix and match you tops and bottoms with different colors.  Also try using 100% animal fiber yarn and dye them using Easter egg dye after the are crochet to get the full on look!! To dye yarn with Easter egg dye just follow the direction exactly and use 100% animal fiber yarn, this will not work on acrylic yarn !  Skill level:  Intermediate Supplies needed:  size D or E crochet hook 4 ply or 3 ply yarn scraps it doesn't take much to make an egg but can you stop at one? My example was made with Caron simply Soft. This is a 4 ply yarn but it is a thinner 4 ply than red heart for example.
