 How adorable is this solid heart in a granny?? I started making amigurumi hearts because I was just feeling so sad, upset and worried by everything in the news and I knew I needed something positive to focus on!  I recommend carrying both colors with you as you work your square so you don't have as many ends to weave!  I used Yarn Bee Soft Sleek and Chunky and a size F hook You can use any 4 or 5 ply yarn and then go two hook sizes down to create a tight pattern. HC=Heart Color BC= Background color Round 1 using HC make a magic ring, chain 3 2dc, ch3,3dc,ch3,3dc,ch3,3dc, ch 3 and join with beginning of the round Round 2 using HC chain 3 1 dc in each dc, in corner 2dc, ch 2, 2dc, then dc in each stitch along the side, 2dc, ch2,2dc in corner, repeat until you get to the beginning and join. I am using Red Heart Super Saver Ombre Yarn and an I hook This is a quick back I wanted to share for those that want a join that is invisible even when you are working with multiple colors! I'm in the process of making a Corner to Corner throw of various colors and am making panels of the same length but different widths. To join them I am using a needle and thread to sew together and below you will see what the front and back look like when you do this. I always double thread and hand stitch when using this method. I start by placing the panels on top of each other and stitch about 2 stitches in every crocheted stitch. You can go in the yarn. It doesn't have to be like when you see with the yarn. This one drove me crazy until I made several! Anyone else hook in their car?  This pattern is for advance beginners and beyond For those that prefer an exact stitch count for every size this in not the pattern for you. I made this pattern last year but didn't put it up because i don't have the yarn budget and whew the time to make this in every size. If you search circle vest patterns on ravelry I am sure you can find paid patterns in any size you want. I have taught this as a class in a major craft store and many students loved the idea of learning to make something with this level of customization . Note I instead of just giving you what I did to make my size I am giving you all of my notes so you can make it in your size as well. My son really wanted to get his teacher something EPIC and he found out she likes tea.... He says she drinks it" like all the time" Now he came up with idea yesterday and the last day of school is tomorrow.... We already had a mall trip planned and we Pickup up a plain white mug at Bed Bath and Beyond and some fancy organic ( so yummy) teas from World Market.

This was their favorite of all the yarn bombs!  I have been following Stephen Duneier on Instagram   and watched as people from all over the WORLD sent in items to be used in a collaborative yarn bomb. People sent in complete blankets, squares, wips, ufos, even projects gone wrong. Even a child sent in finger knitting, which made my almost eight year old boy get so excited to take up crochet again!   Even though I saw many of these pieces separately on his feed I was not prepared for the sights I saw when I walked up the mountain. Lion Brand kindly sent me a ball of their new yarn line Landscapes.  ( THANK YOU LION BRAND, feel free to send yarn anytime hehehehe )  WOW is it LOVELY the colors are incredibly vibrant and the yarn is extremely soft.  It's an Acrylic yarn but feels more like a soft blend. It come in 6 exciting color ways Apple Orchid ( That is the colorway I used) Tropics, Boardwalk, Sand Dune, Desert Spring and Mountain Range. Each ball is 100grams/3.5 oz (147 yards) and it's a #4 medium weight yarn.  The label says to use a K hook but i wanted to make something using only one ball so I opted for a design that used an H hook.

Last night I met up with some of my former loom students to show them the new looms and other great products I received at the CHA. One of my students went home and told her husband how much she loved the all n one loom and ordered that night!! You can double knit and adjust the width or you can knit flat.  in the next few weeks I will write and film a full review on it.  I also have the  Tadpole  which is great because it's portable and small ( it also has great instructions) and the  sock loom . I have used sock looms before where the grooves were not big enough and that made me hate making socks! Hello everyone! Whew this past weekend at the CHA has been a whirlwind! I got hit hard with cold so thank you for waiting a few days for me to get this post up!! For those that don't know this last Friday to Tuesday was the Craft and Hobby Show in Anaheim, CA . As you can see above I ran into Mikey from The Crochet Crowd in the Red Heart booth. Red Heart has a new motto this year " Make it. Love it. Share it. " Mikey and Diva Dan were a delight to meet in person! I can not say enough what down to earth real and awesome people they were! I really enjoyed speaking with them at the booth, on the show room floor and at the Prime CHA Networking event.

My dear friend Ann Siggers put together something amazing! She asked the ladies of her online christian CROCHET group to crochet pink ribbons so they can be donated to breast cancer centers to given out during this month. They all have been blocked and have pins attached.

It's back to school time, both for myself and my oldest son ( he just got into GATE this year and I am so proud!) and in my house this means COFFEE! I was given one of these diy coffee cups and At first I though ooo I could scrapbook something awesome.... But then I though what if I crocheted something?? The cup I have smashed the lace I made with this 2 ply yarn. However I think thread would fit perfectly!!!! SO here is a project anyone even children can do!! Supplies less than one ball of Yarn 3 ply or 2 ply I used Scarps of Vanna's Glamour left over from this pattern ( Oh my CHIQ stars scarf  ) customizable coffee cup Step 1 unscrew the cup Step 2 Starting at the bottom wrap yarn around the cup. Try to wrap closely so there are not hug black gaps, try not to over lap too much so it it not thick. To help it from unraveling when you first start with a 6 inch tail and wrap over it as you go. For the first one I thought I would share the same basic tips I start all my crochet class with, for experienced crocheters you may already know this, don't worry I every week I will target a different level of crocheter. If you are a beginner you should stay clear of any textured yarn ( except maybe ruffle yarn as those scarves are a easy step into crocheting project click here for my easy pattern ) because it is hard to see your stitches. Learning a new craft is a more enjoyable experience if you take baby steps. So many students would show up in my beginner crochet class with baby sweater patterns and fun texture yarn twice as big as the pattern calls for! When I first started learning ( before I found Mikey and Teresa's videos ) I bought a boucle yarn and could not get it at all!!

I read a review on Red Heart and on AllFreeCrochet and I was intrigued to get my hands on a copy and try a few patterns out! I am still working through the book but I wanted to share with you 2 of the animals I have made and as I make more I will share those with you too! so I couldn't find my darning needle and I used my hook to weave everything lol... that's why the face is lacking in detail!  The Harp seal is the 2nd pattern listed in the book and it's quick cute and easy pattern. However read each round completely before you crochet... a few times I almost made a mistake because of the way the pattern was worded and the way it increased. I loved everything about the pattern it's just written different than what I am used to and... I haven't followed a pattern in a while since I normally just figure it out myself.
