CHA Post 1- what is the CHA and who I met!

YES I met the DUDE * DREW EMBROSKY**!! I also got to see his new yarn brand Decades up close and wow you can tell someone who works with yarn designs it! See below for a photo of things he made with it

AND OMG in the tulip booth I ran into VICKIE HOWELL Love love love her designs and the sheepish line of yarn!!!
So let me tell you how I met these AMAZING people ... I am a member ( my badge says creative professional * oooo*)  of the CHA (Crafts and Hobby Association) and this weekend was the winter convention in Anaheim, CA.
This is an amazing convention to go to if you can get in and afford the travel and what not. You get to see first hand the new and exciting product coming out in the craft industry... not just yarn! I also got to meet one of  my talented editors from AllFreeCrochet JENNY! Now below is the only photo I have seen of her.. it's from Halloween so my mind should know she doesn't dress like this..or really look like this
So for Halloween she dressed up as Mikey from the crochet crowd..
Yet when I was at the Prime Publishing ( they own afc and a lot of other awesome sites!!!) Networking event I was standing right next to her and didn't even know it!!
I normally angle my photos or take a million before I post but it's Jenny so I don't really care how I look I am JUST so excited I got a photo with her!!! I am hoping to meet Christine one day too!!

For those that don't know AllFreeCrochet is a great site that has 1000's of free crochet patterns they also have youtube video and  facebook page with a pattern of the day. You can check out my Profile there too!
I am in love with the pink...

Here is the yarn I was talking about before it's called Decades! I love all the thought that was put into designing this yarn, you can tell it was yarny!! Drew wanted to have complete control of his yarn and WOW more power to him for doing it! It is amazing what a blogger can do!!! The colors are arranged by decades and have solids and a multi that works with the solids in that decade!! OMG makes matching colors easier right????? These are so soft and the colors are just incredible! I also got to see photo of a new yarn line coming from him and OMG did I FREAK at the colors!!! Now I will warn you it's not bargain yarn... it's about 13 is in my opinion is a STEAL for HAND DYED ( that's right its high quality super wash wool that is hand dyed) yarn.

I have soo much more to share about the show so keep checking back this week for post on what the yarn companies had displaying , fun yarns, fashion show photos, and new hooks!!

Thread Cross Bookmark

I used Aunt Lydia's Crochet thread and a size D hook. Make a magic circle Round 1 Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2 and join. Sides and top of cross Ch3 2dc, ch2, dc3 in any ch2 sp. Turn and *sl to ch2, ch3,2dc, ch2,3dc. *Turn and repeat * repeat everything in this step 3 more times. Cut thread and weave in ends at the ends of the sides. Bottom of the cross When you get to the last side repeat the * section 2 more times for a total of 4 shells for the bottom and 2 shells for the sides not including the center. On the top of the cross attach yarn and chain 26, skip the first 5 and sl to the first chain. Then I added a tassel. If thread isn't your thing check out this great bookmark Stitch 11 made from my Cross Bangle pattern! Check out the Stitch 11 post here

Step 1 This is the star stitch but you can make these any size and any stitch just make it in this shape. The above sample has 19 star stiches on the bottom ( 2 rows plus beginning hdc row)and reduces to 10 star stiches ( 3 rows) step 2 turn so the right sides are facing each other, and sew them together like the above picture,. isdsjfklajlkdsjc step three turn right side out! attach a chain 5 if desires so you can hang it. I am making about 30 of these for my 6 year old to hand out as Christmas gifts at school with mini candy canes in them!
