Love Granny Square

How adorable is this solid heart in a granny?? I started making amigurumi hearts because I was just feeling so sad, upset and worried by everything in the news and I knew I needed something positive to focus on!  I recommend carrying both colors with you as you work your square so you don't have as many ends to weave!  I used Yarn Bee Soft Sleek and Chunky and a size F hook You can use any 4 or 5 ply yarn and then go two hook sizes down to create a tight pattern. HC=Heart Color BC= Background color Round 1 using HC make a magic ring, chain 3 2dc, ch3,3dc,ch3,3dc,ch3,3dc, ch 3 and join with beginning of the round Round 2 using HC chain 3 1 dc in each dc, in corner 2dc, ch 2, 2dc, then dc in each stitch along the side, 2dc, ch2,2dc in corner, repeat until you get to the beginning and join. Round 3 Using BC skip the first 2 stitches of any side, ch3, dc in nest two stitches, Using HC 1 dc in each stitch 2dc, ch2,2dc in each corner. * The spot where there is 3 stitches in BC...

How to make a DIY Crochet Circle Vest, Instruction to use your favorite doily pattern and my FREE pattern is included as well

This one drove me crazy until I made several! Anyone else hook in their car?  This pattern is for advance beginners and beyond For those that prefer an exact stitch count for every size this in not the pattern for you. I made this pattern last year but didn't put it up because i don't have the yarn budget and whew the time to make this in every size. If you search circle vest patterns on ravelry I am sure you can find paid patterns in any size you want. I have taught this as a class in a major craft store and many students loved the idea of learning to make something with this level of customization . Note I instead of just giving you what I did to make my size I am giving you all of my notes so you can make it in your size as well. If you are comfortable reading patterns then this should not be difficult for you however I would not suggest this pattern to be the first written pattern you should try. Every time I have make this I have used a different 4ply y...

Chiq Wedding Necklace - updated format

This flower was in the wedding section for only 4.99 How Stunning is this???? Even if you are not getting married this yarn is available in many colors make one or 10!!! The best part this is basically a chain! WHAT??? Yes I chained RIBBON yarn and made this stunning necklace in about 30 minutes!! I teach this class as a "lets see if I want to try crochet but I want something cute right now kind of class at Micheal's arts and crafts" Supplies : any ribbon yarn . There are MANY brands out there , the following is a loops and thread one, but any ribbon yarn will do Flower or pendent notion, and a crochet hook any size between D to I Spaces are the huge rectangle gaps at the top Instead of making a slip knot, just insert your hook into a ladder ( for strength of your work skip the first ladder space, like I did.) Now go to the next space ( or skip 1 to 2 ) and you will pull it through the first one like you are doing a ch...

DIY Yarn coffee cup inspiration

It's back to school time, both for myself and my oldest son ( he just got into GATE this year and I am so proud!) and in my house this means COFFEE! I was given one of these diy coffee cups and At first I though ooo I could scrapbook something awesome.... But then I though what if I crocheted something?? The cup I have smashed the lace I made with this 2 ply yarn. However I think thread would fit perfectly!!!! SO here is a project anyone even children can do!! Supplies less than one ball of Yarn 3 ply or 2 ply I used Scarps of Vanna's Glamour left over from this pattern ( Oh my CHIQ stars scarf  ) customizable coffee cup Step 1 unscrew the cup Step 2 Starting at the bottom wrap yarn around the cup. Try to wrap closely so there are not hug black gaps, try not to over lap too much so it it not thick. To help it from unraveling when you first start with a 6 inch tail and wrap over it as you go. Step 3 When you reach the top tuck your tail in and screw the cup...

Hand Felting Flowers

The top is felted the bottom isnt. They were both identical before the top was felted Hello Everyone! Today I thought I would show you how to felt your projects without having to use a Washing Machine You don't need to use the same pattern as me in fact you can felt anything that is made of wool. However if it's only 20 wool it won't work very much. Check your label and make sure your yarn is manly wool. I used my latest  flower pattern  I also have  Chiq Simple Flower ,  Loopy /Chain flower  or use your favorite one!!! Here is a Picture of the flower Before I felted it Notice the texture and how you can see the stitches. Notice how much the texture has changed? It's very soft. See how its hard to define the stitches? You can felt it to the point of not being able to define them at all. Felting occurs when something of manly wool (ever  notice how must wool items say not to wash) Is heated and agitated . You can do this using your wa...

Chiq Variation on Jenni's flower

Hello everyone!!! My friend Jenni Is working on her first crochet pattern which a cute sat hat that starts with a flower in the middle! I made a variation of the flower she used and I will be sticking it all over my county fair project. The pink Is mine and the White is hers! There are very many versions of flowers available online!! Supplies  Yarn any kind Hook  Whatever size the yarn calls for I used a super soft wool in Cotton Candy from  Eco Yarn  ( an AMAZING etsy shop that recycles yarn from thrift store sweaters!)  and a size G crochet hook! Start with a Magic circle and chain 2 ( count as your step un and not a DC) Work 12 DC in to the Magic Circle, join, We chain4 at the beg. because the 1 chain counts as your sc chain 4 skip on stitch, sc in the next, *chain 3 skip one stitch * repeat   * YOu should have 6 chain spaces. This is what half of a petal looks like. You will need to make the stitches fit. ...

Chiq 3 strand headband

Headband time!!! These are headbands I have seen all over the place and at first I thought they were made by having 3 separate chains but after seeing some at a craft fair last week I think is way looks better!! Supplies F crochet hook 4 ply yarn This is a VERY EASY pattern!! Great for a beginner!! To start you will chain 115 chain 20 for the side chain 75-for the mid chain 20-for the side Turn ch1 sc in the first 20 chains, then chain 75, and sct in the last 20chains.  Turn ch1, sc in the first 20, then chain 75, and sc in the last 20 chains. Fasten off and weave in your two ends. If you want to make this smaller adjust the pattern by reducing the count for the mid section A basic child size would be Ch 20 for the side ( for a small child you could do 15 here) Chain 35- for the mid Ch 20- for the side Also changing the hook size or yarn size is a very easy way to make the headband bigger or smaller. There is no wrong way here what ever you...
