A Maleficent Cowl

Lion Brand kindly sent me a ball of their new yarn line Landscapes.  ( THANK YOU LION BRAND, feel free to send yarn anytime hehehehe )  WOW is it LOVELY the colors are incredibly vibrant and the yarn is extremely soft.  It's an Acrylic yarn but feels more like a soft blend. It come in 6 exciting color ways Apple Orchid ( That is the colorway I used) Tropics, Boardwalk, Sand Dune, Desert Spring and Mountain Range. Each ball is 100grams/3.5 oz (147 yards) and it's a #4 medium weight yarn.  The label says to use a K hook but i wanted to make something using only one ball so I opted for a design that used an H hook.

Chiq Felted upscale Purse

I love how colorful this purse is!!!!! If you would like to felt a bag remember to make it BIG I put my hand in the photo so you could see the before felting size. I also think this bag looks awesome unfetled.. I used 100% wool Kaleidoscope yarn by loops and threads ( you can felt with any wool yarn at least 80% wool that ISN'T a superwash And here is the bag after one cycle on HOT LOOK how I lost way more in height than in width. Interesting because when the Knitting teacher at my work ( SHE IS SOO AWESOME I <3 YOU DIANE) did one hers shrank more proportionately I think it has to do with how the stitches are shaped different in crochet v.s knitting.... Do you want me to post the pattern I came up with for this bag? Would you like to see a video? Comment below!!! Let me see how many of you out there want to know how to do this project!!

Orange County Fair Project- my crochet art entry for "Home Sweet Home"

Hello everyone!!! I submitted my fair entry today and I wanted to share some of the details of my project with you :) This was my basic concept however it got way bigger but then smaller due to health problemsI've had in the last 6 weeks.. My 3 year old also managed to break a crate, ruin some of the fence post and make off with a thread snake and about 20 flowers under his bed!! LOL Having to redesign at the last minute due to his "help" ( but He loves it soo much so I take it as a complement!)  actually made me due some things differently which I liked!!) For example I came up with these cute Butterflies at the last minute using netted yarn! I used Starbella by premier yarns but you can do it with any other netted type yarn. Here is a look at the Home Sweet Home sign I remade this morning sine I was already redoing somethings I desided to redo this and make it look more "Hand Made" The first one felt too perfect and like something mass produced. The y...

Crochet Flower Display - part 1 my idea

This is me! On my way to blog in a coffee shop! I generally like to get out of the house when I blog and it's a great excuse to have a yummy caffeinated beverage. However a lot of post are also written late at night after my children are fast asleep and I have finished everything else that needs to be done. Hello everyone!!! I am so excited to announce that I will be creating a display to enter into a county fair contest. My display will be 3ft tall and 4 ft wide and 2 ft deep!!! The theme is Home Sweet Home so I will be having a white picket fence made out of foam core board and I will be attaching crochet flowers and insect from around the world to it.  It will also have a crochet home sweet home sign! There are many other elements but this is my basic concept Check out THE AMAZING display Mikey and THE CROCHET CROWD did I was inspired by the lovely tree that Mikey @ the crochet crowd did. However I wanted to also do my own thing. To me when I thin...

A flirty Spring Scarf

Here is the scarf in my favorite color combo!! This scarf is so easy your head will spin! Supplies: H Hook Starbella Yarn Skill level This can be your VERY first crochet project!! First you need to spread out the yarn and look at the netting. The part that is thick is the bottom or the edging, it is what ruffles. The thinner side with the spaced out netting is the top and what we will be crocheting into. What we are doing is a chain, take turns between chaining in every hole and skips one or two holes. Continue chaining until you have the length desired. the yarn will curl and ruffle as you go. Knot and slip stitch to hide your end. Then repeat everything with a 2nd chain at the same length. Then you twist the two together and you have this CHIQ scarf!!! Try mixing colors or doing more than 2 strands for a thicker scarf! What colors do you like? Comment below! Crochet Easter Egg with compartment!

I haven't written the pattern for the bunny and her carrot yet.  Why use plastic ones? Go green and make you own reusable ones!!!  Not to mention these are completely adorable!! Mix and match you tops and bottoms with different colors.  Also try using 100% animal fiber yarn and dye them using Easter egg dye after the are crochet to get the full on look!! To dye yarn with Easter egg dye just follow the direction exactly and use 100% animal fiber yarn, this will not work on acrylic yarn !  Skill level:  Intermediate Supplies needed:  size D or E crochet hook 4 ply or 3 ply yarn scraps it doesn't take much to make an egg but can you stop at one? My example was made with Caron simply Soft. This is a 4 ply yarn but it is a thinner 4 ply than red heart for example. I also like the durability and softness of this yarn. This yarn is also available in great bright Easter colors anytime of the year! BPSC = Back Post Single Crochet ...

Frills and Femme Scarf pattern

I will have some better photos up this week :) How on earth do you make these cute scarfs from Redheart's Sashay yarn?? I've been told you can only KNIT them.... HA HA HA Not that I am anti Kniting, I teach a knitting class everyonce in a while ( When I have to!) but I have more hours invested in crochet so I like to stick with crochet, then looming, then knitting. So I haven't taken photos yet so bare with me they will be up sometime this week. First what supplies do you need? 1 ball of Sashay yarn ( only 4.99 at Michael's and you can use a coupon).... though some on my students like a longer and or fuller scarf then you need about 1.5 balls. A size I crochet hook ... though I have made them with a J, H or G , I think it looks best with the "I" though. Okay that's ALL we need to make these wonderful scarfs!! Oh and I wrote this pattern I teach that can be taken by people who have NEVER crocheted before, this pattern is easy!! To start ...
