Grapes and Vine Granny Square

Supplies:
I used Lion Brands Vanna's Choice in
Olive and Purple
I a size J hook but use any size you prefer

Using purple make a magic circle
Round 1

Chain and pull up to the height you want on your puff stitches. Make a 7 loop puffstitch ch2 repeat 3 times and join the last ch2 with the first puff stitch.
Round 2
Using olive
Ch3, 2dc, ch3 dc, ch1 (all in the ch2 of r1)* skip to the next ch2 space of r1 and 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1 * repeat 2 more times and join with beginning ch3

Here is the inspiration for this square! I was sitting a a yummy Italian place and thought of these colors! I wanted the grape portion to be rounder and fuller so I used the puff stitch to give it some variety.  I think this could also double for a violet or wine inspired square!
Round 3
Ch3, 2dc, 3dc, ch1, (all in the ch2 of r2)3dc in the ch1 space,ch1,*3dc, ch2, 3dc,ch2 , 3dc in the next ch1 space, ch1* repeat 2 times and join

Round 4
Switch to purple
Chain in any corner and pull up make *1 puff stitch, ch2 loosely , 1 puff stitch, ch1, 1 puff stitch in the next ch1 space, ch1, make 1 puff stitch in the ch1 space, ch 1* repeat 3 more times and join

Last round!
Using olive
Attach at any corner. Ch3 , 2 dc, ch2, 3 dc, ch1 , skip to next ch1 spot and 3dc,ch1, skip to the next ch1 spot and 3 dc, ch1, skip to the next ch1 spot and 3dc, ch1 *in the ch2 work 3dc, ch2, 3dc, skip to the ch1, 3dc,ch1 3times* repeat two more times and join.

  1. I think I might try to make it into a granighan for a baby size and if it goes well perhaps make an afghan like it. It looks like a great stashbuster and I am loaded (overloaded) with yarn. Thank you for the pattern

Thread Cross Bookmark

I used Aunt Lydia's Crochet thread and a size D hook. Make a magic circle Round 1 Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2 and join. Sides and top of cross Ch3 2dc, ch2, dc3 in any ch2 sp. Turn and *sl to ch2, ch3,2dc, ch2,3dc. *Turn and repeat * repeat everything in this step 3 more times. Cut thread and weave in ends at the ends of the sides. Bottom of the cross When you get to the last side repeat the * section 2 more times for a total of 4 shells for the bottom and 2 shells for the sides not including the center. On the top of the cross attach yarn and chain 26, skip the first 5 and sl to the first chain. Then I added a tassel. Easy simple no shaping stocking ornament

Step 1 This is the star stitch but you can make these any size and any stitch just make it in this shape. The above sample has 19 star stiches on the bottom ( 2 rows plus beginning hdc row)and reduces to 10 star stiches ( 3 rows) step 2 turn so the right sides are facing each other, and sew them together like the above picture,. isdsjfklajlkdsjc step three turn right side out! attach a chain 5 if desires so you can hang it. I am making about 30 of these for my 6 year old to hand out as Christmas gifts at school with mini candy canes in them!
