This hat was designed for a beautiful 19 year that is currently battling cancer You can see her Blog right HERE
If you like this design PLEASE consider making one for something you or someone you know who is fighting cancer, take it to a hospital or donate one to a charity like Knots of Love
Supplies :
* if you are making one to donate USE SOFT yarn some charities and hospitals only except certain yarn brands so check first! The reason for this is people going through Chemo have very sensitive skin and you can make the most beautiful hat but its of no use if it hurts them! 2 Brands I use are ( not all charities except) Redheart soft ( NEVER EVER use supersavor) and Caron's simply soft ( most charities love this one)
size J hook or I hook
make a magic circle or chain 3 and join
*I worked this hat in the round and used a stitch marker to join
Round 1 - chain 3, 11 dc
Round 2- 1dc,1FPdc, repeat so there are 12 dcs and 12 FPdcs
Round 3- 2dc, 1 FPdc, repeat 11times * All FPdc should line up in every round,
Round 4- 3dc, 1 FPdc, repeat 11 times
Round 5- 3dc, 1 FPdc, repeat 11 times
Repeat round 5 until you have the length you want minus 1 inch
for a little bit of slouchy do a total of 15 rows
* if you hat seem a tad to loose add a few decreases in the first row of the single crochets *
Once you have the length you want skip one stich and sl
Last Round Crochet this tight or go down a hook size ( repeat until it measures an inch about 3-5 rounds depending on gauge yarn and hook size)
Sc in back loop of each stitch .
Add a flower or leave as is.
Here is a variation of the hat I did! Sorry no pattern at this time for the variation ( its a tad complex and when I figure out how to write it so it's easier to understand I will post it, but have fun with the post stitches and don't forget to share your creations with the Crochet Chiq Facebook FANPAGE

Did 15 rows with Loops & Threads, Soft & Shiny in Baroque . But, 15 rows didn't come out as slouch, but beanie.
ReplyDeleteYou example should've been pattern, not variation. That way you test your written directions, and clarify how the increase works.
