Chiq Slouchy spiral

Soo I never would have come up with this slouchy hat had I not made this adorable cup cake beanie by the talented Twinkie Chan

see her * paid * patterns on ravelry!

I was intrigure because this hat is NOT made from the top down and that's all I will say about this pattern here is my brand new slouchy pattern!!! I will release variation later this week and month and I have been making this hat non stop here is the basic version

I used the pictured yarn above but any 4 ply will do along with a J crochet hook

chain any odd number from 21 to 27 ( 21 will be not so slouchy 27 will be very slouchy)

you are working this hat side to side....


 Row 1 hdc in 3rd chain from hook *skip 1, 2 hdc in the next* repeat until the end
Row 2 sl over the first stitch chain 2, hdc, *skip 1, 2dc) repeat until the end... in the last stitch do 2 hdc so it slants and increases, ***every row should have the same amount of stitches we skip 2 on one side and add two on the next**
Play around with color changes to highlight the swirl... for now it looks like  a slanted scarf thing....


Keep working thing the pattern ( 2hdc skip 1) *Increase on one side leave off 2
one side edge is straight and one is wavy.. the wavy side is the decrease one*
until the wavy side can reach around your head with out stretching, but not too loose...
then sew the first row to the last, and take a 8 inch or so piece of yarn and weave it in and out of the straight edge and pull tight and knot it! turn your hat right side out and you are done!!!

    Hello. My name is Annie from upstate NY. This is pattern is exactly what I have looking for my grandsons this Christmas. I love it. However, I either have not had enough coffee and/or am just missing it, but Im not seeing a "printer friendly" version on the site. Id really rather conserve the paper and print just the instructions minus the tutorial and comments. Id would greatly appreciate if any can help me. Thank you so much.       I don't know if I made it in time for you to print this pattern but for the future, install cleanprint on your browser-it is worth its weight in gold (and it's free!). You click the leaf on your toolbar, and it brings up a printable version-then you can remove some pictures, delete the comments, even shrink (or enlarge) the writing before you print. I highly recommend it for anyone who prints patterns, directions, recipes, anything online! It tells you how many pages your document will be-sometimes I will shrink the writing so it will fit on less pages, especially when there are only a few sentences on the last page. Explore it and play around, you will love it!

      This will be my next hat come cooler weather! I copy n paste instructions in Word then print, and save pics into my computer for quick reference. You can also download into your smart phone Sony reader app. I really love the Chiq Shell shorts. so does my sis n friends who received their own Thanks!!

    Can you please clarify Row 2: "SL" is a slip stitch involved? Or should this be "SK" skip a stitch? Where does the chain 2 come in, when you turn at the end of Row 1? Also, where does the first parenthesis go to indicate what is repeated?

Thread Cross Bookmark

I used Aunt Lydia's Crochet thread and a size D hook. Make a magic circle Round 1 Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2 and join. Sides and top of cross Ch3 2dc, ch2, dc3 in any ch2 sp. Turn and *sl to ch2, ch3,2dc, ch2,3dc. *Turn and repeat * repeat everything in this step 3 more times. Cut thread and weave in ends at the ends of the sides. Bottom of the cross When you get to the last side repeat the * section 2 more times for a total of 4 shells for the bottom and 2 shells for the sides not including the center. On the top of the cross attach yarn and chain 26, skip the first 5 and sl to the first chain. Then I added a tassel. Easy simple no shaping stocking ornament

Step 1 This is the star stitch but you can make these any size and any stitch just make it in this shape. The above sample has 19 star stiches on the bottom ( 2 rows plus beginning hdc row)and reduces to 10 star stiches ( 3 rows) step 2 turn so the right sides are facing each other, and sew them together like the above picture,. isdsjfklajlkdsjc step three turn right side out! attach a chain 5 if desires so you can hang it. I am making about 30 of these for my 6 year old to hand out as Christmas gifts at school with mini candy canes in them! Below is a crochet chart for a basic hdc stocking but you can use any stitch. * turn at the end of every row,  * ch1 and hdc in the first stitch of every row Row 1 ( starts from the bottom up) chain 38 Row 2 38 hdc Row3-6 repeat row 2 Row 7 starting 11 stitches over ( you can do this my sl or if you alternate colors just attach the yarn on the 11th stitch) hdc in the next 18 stitch  Row 8 until- (desires length i
